Allergen Information

Our bakes may not be suitable for people with food allergies, intolerances or coeliac disease. –

Many of our bakes may contain any of the following: WHEAT, OATS, BARLEY AND OTHER CEREALS CONTAINING GLUTEN, MILK, EGGS, SOYA, PEANUTS, TREE NUTS, SULPHUR DIOXIDE AND OTHER PRESERVATIVES, MUSTARD, SESAME SEEDS.

Our bakes are also made in a kitchen where nuts and other food allergens are used, therefore we cannot guarantee that any of our cakes are completely free of all traces for people who are highly sensitive.

Some of the ingredients that we use e.g. Chocolate, may have been produced in an environment where nuts and other allergens are used, therefore trace elements may be found.

Although an allergen source may not be a main ingredient in a bake, we cannot guarantee it to be free of that allergen.

For your information a list of allergens present in our bakes is included in every product description.

A detailed ingredients list is supplied with every order.

How long will my cake(s) last once opened?

This depends on the type of cake/s. Most cakes will generally last for up to a week stored in an air-tight container.

Sponge cakes are best eaten within 3-4 days.

Traybakes such as Brownies or Tiffin can last longer!

Christmas fruit cakes will last longer if they are stored correctly.

Do not store cake in the refrigerator, unless specified, as this speeds up the aging process of the gluten in the flour and cakes will taste stale sooner than if kept in a cool place.

Storage information is included in the Ingredients List which is supplied with each order.

Cake Care Guide

We hope you enjoy your cake as much as we did in preparing it for you.

Below are a few helpful tips to ensure the safe transport and storage of your cake.

Whole cakes – the cake will normally be on a board slightly wider than the cake. This fits a box the same size, to prevent it moving in transit.

  1. Always lift and carry the cake box from the underneath and avoid pressing or pushing the top or sides of the box, this may cause damage to any decoration on the sides or top of the cake.

  2. Cakes are best transported in an air-conditioned vehicle, especially in hot weather.  During transport ensure the cake sits on a level surface. The footwell of the car is the best place, as this will be flat. Please do not transport the cake on the seat or a passenger’s lap as these surfaces are often slanted and the cake may tip or fall. Please drive carefully and avoid bumps in the road as much as possible, particularly if the cake has models or other decorations that might be affected.

  3. Remove the cake/s from the vehicle as soon as possible, as any temperature change may affect the quality and finish of the cake.

  4. Unless specified our cakes should not require refrigeration (except in extreme hot weather conditions, eg where a chocolate-based product such as Tiffin, may require a cooler temperature).

  5. Once opened, cakes should be covered and stored in an air-tight container in a cool place away from direct sunlight.

  6. Remove all inedible decorations before cutting and serving.

Please be advised Louise’s Kitchen cannot be held responsible for any damage to the cake after it has left our possession
